High voltage fuse link type SSK complements the existing
product range. The field of application is in switchgear
with low ratings for breaker opening times and take-over
currents in use upstream of transformers rated 630 kVA
or above.In the case of smaller transformers,standard
fuse links can be used, because the ratio of the fuse
take-over current to the rated take-over current of
the breaker is more favourable.
The selection of the fuse links for distribution transformer
protection is done according to the fuse manufacturers
recommendation in conjunction with VDE 0670-402. The
manufacturers of the load break switches however, recommend
ratings according VDE 0670-303 and/or IEC 60 420 in
line with their certification.The application of both
standards will thus deliver two fuse link ratings, which
are not identical. In these cases, the application of
the new SSK type high voltage fuse link made by SIBA,
will solve the problem.
When designing the new fuse link, the main objective
was to reduce the melting times<100 ms without negative
impact on any other fuse parameter.Ther power loss at
the rated current is 70-75 W only, which is beneficial
for the switchgear manufacturer. Furthermore, the extremely
low minimum breaking current of only 3,5 x rated current
is identical to the SIBA standard rangs fuse links.
